Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Apparently Was “99% Finished”

Back in April of this year, a video leaked and showcased in-game footage of the coveted shooter Star Wars: Battlefront 3. Free Radical co-founder Steve Ellis was recently interviewed by gamersTM, which revealed that Battlefront 3 was way closer to completion than what was originally thought. Ellis mentions that the game was cancelled due to financial reasons. He also mentioned that this would of been their most popular title yet. I wonder why LucasArts wasn’t able to see that though. Financial difficulties could have been easily taken care of after Battlefront 3′s launch.

“We had a 99% finished game that just needed bug fixing for release,” Ellis mentioned. “It should have been our most successful game, but it was cancelled for financial reasons. I’m happy that people did at least get to see what we were working on and share the team’s enthusiasm for it.”

Hopefully with Disney just recently acquiring LucasArts, Battlefront 3 will somehow find its way out into the market. If all the game needed was bug fixing, surely this would be an easy money-grab for Disney. I sincerely hope that Disney will somehow bring this project back to life. I’m sure they have to be considering it too. When they bought LucasArts, surely the Battlefront IP wasn’t something that they just looked over, especially when the third installment was 99% finished.

Battlefront was easily my favorite franchise and it would be thrilling to see another game added to the series.
